Work History

Originally hired as the pre-press/ digital press operator and within a month promoted to the operations manager for the new company startup. I personally designed an automatic print solution, through custom programming (SQL, XML, PHP, JDF, Java) by combining CERM MIS, Enfocus Switch, Enfocus Pitstop Server, Alwan Color Management and the Xeikon Digital Press to create a 90% automatic lights out pre-press print facility which included automatic notifications for files that did not meet minimum print standards. Created the branding concept and was responsible for all TDLS branding. Oversaw and assisted with the website creation. Designed and assisted programming an automatic label pricing and ordering system that is completely re-brandable to printers, print brokers, and other companies which expanded our revenue streams. Obtained the Idea Alliance G7 Master Certification. Integrated PPML so each print could provide unique images and personalized messages per item printed. Utilized Cross Media Marketing such as Purl’s for our customers advertising programs. During our first year in business, my creative design won the Printing Association of Florida’s Flamingo for Best Printer’s Self Advertising 2013.

I was charged with the layout and design of over 24 newsletters and 18 magazines which included extensive photo retouching, logo, web design, and pre-press. Handled all print buying and mailings. I streamlined the current workflow and established new business rules unique to FX. With the new procedures I helped to increase productivity by standardizing all computers and by providing staff training for new file handling techniques. I maintained the company’s website and email. I used Metrix imposition and JDF import software.

I was originally hired as the IT Manager which was a newly created position. I oversaw and directed the complete overhaul of the computer network, MIS system, and upgrade of the pre-press department. Oversaw mail house merger acquisition integration. I setup the mail division rules and procedures. Later, I was also given charge over the graphic design / pre-press department where I standardized the department’s business rules, increased productivity, and decreased the amount of costly errors. I reduced the labor costs by 45% while improving job handling and streamlining workflows. I custom wrote a computer program in FileMaker, which was connected to our MIS system via SQL, to track every job going through the pre-press department which helped reduce rework/ errors from an average of $35,000+/- monthly to an approximate average of $12,000. During my tenure the company, my designs won the Print Industries of the America’s “Benny” award and the Printing Association of Florida’s “Golden Flamingo” for 4 years. I maintained the company’s website and email.

I was hired when the company was still Mail-Well as a pre-press manager and in less than a year promoted to Information Technology Manager, which was a newly created position within Mail-Well 112+ plant family to oversee and handle all technological related issues. The responsibilities included evaluating, streamlining and consolidation of all the pre-press departments, eliminating useless equipment, purchasing new equipment, and updating the computer networks at each printing facility. One size does not fit all so I implemented business rules unique to each print facility to help eliminate common costly errors which improved job handling and print turn around times. I maintained the company’s websites and emails.

I oversaw the creation of 44 local papers and magazines, on a weekly basis, from flat layout to final product output. I was responsible to preflight all customers supplied art files.
