We approached Marvel with a licensing concept to create motivational posters for children. We secured the limited run licensing rights and began work in early 2003. Initially we did sketch illustration outlines and scanned them into Photoshop to be colored to Marvel specifications as represented by Captain America’s Patriotism and Thor’s Leadership. Early on we decided to buy Wacom tablets and sketch, model, and color the images in Photoshop and Maya. As you have probably read by now I am a color expert and we instituted strict color protocols at the very beginning. We went back and forth with Marvel from 2003 to 2005 to get final proof approvals. We finished printing in late 2005.
Additional products included 3D Notebooks, dry erase “To Do list”, & dry erase “Calendars”.
This was one of my favorite freelance projects I have ever had the pleasure to work on. Being a comic book geek since I was young I was honored to be picked to work on this project with SuperLithos.com. Here is a small sampling of our many posters. My personal favorite is Hulk’s Drive.
